9-13 September 2019, Manhattan, Kansas USA
The 9th annual Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock (GASL) Multi-Stakeholder Partnership (MSP) Meeting will be held on 9-13 September 2019 at Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas USA.
This year’s meeting will be devoted to the theme of “Innovation for Sustainable Livestock Systems“.
To meet rising demand, livestock agrifood systems are being transformed through combinations of expansion, intensification, structural transformation and increases in trade and movement of inputs, live animals and products. These changes have greatly increased production and productivity but also give rise to concerns about sustainability in a number of areas. Furthermore, the benefits and risks associated with livestock agrifood systems are highly context-specific, with diverse livestock agrifood systems playing different roles, facing different trajectories and posing different risks depending on their economic, social and environmental settings.
Moving further towards sustainable livestock agrifood systems is complex because of this diversity, and the many synergies and trade-offs across different domains. This calls for innovative integrated solutions and firm commitment for action from all stakeholders.
The Global Agenda for Sustainable Livestock is committed to take up this challenge. The 9th MSP Meeting will agree upon some concrete action that can be taken by stakeholder towards more sustainable livestock systems.
