Animal Production 2018 Conference Submissions

Overview
The Australian Society of Animal Production, together with CSIRO Publishing, will prepare a special edition of Animal Production Science to be distributed at Animal Production 2018 conference, 2-4 July 2018 held in Wagga Wagga, NSW.

The special edition comprises of two components:

  • Full papers: Submissions are CLOSED. The first call will be made for authors to submit abstracts. The Animal Production 2018 editorial committee will invite a limited number of authors to prepare a full paper of 6 pages. The abstracts will be submitted through the conference website asap.asn.au. The full papers will follow CSIRO submission requirements with submissions made through the CSIRO’s ScholarOne Manuscripts portal.  Authors of abstracts which are not invited to submit full papers will have the option to submit one page papers (see below).
  • One page papers: Submissions OPENING SOON. A second call will be made for authors to submit one page papers. The Animal Production 2018 editorial committee will assess the papers and notify the author of the outcome. The one page papers will be submitted through the conference website asap.asn.au. Accepted one page papers will be published online alongside the special issue of Animal Production Science, meaning they will be fully searchable through standard databases, and citable as a refereed publication.

All full paper authors and contributed authors will be offered to present an oral or poster at Animal Production 2018.

The Animal Production 2018 editorial committee will be assessing full papers and one page papers for relevance to the conference theme (Fostering innovation through the value chain), soundness and quality.

Animal Production Science Scope
Research papers in Animal Production Science focus on improving livestock and food production, and on the social and economic issues that influence primary producers. The journal is predominantly concerned with beef cattle, dairy cows, sheep, pigs, goats and poultry as well as emerging animal industries.

Animal Production Science publishes the highest quality original contributions dealing with:

  • animal breeding and genetics
  • animal nutrition and reproduction
  • livestock farming systems, sustainability and natural resource management
  • meat science and consumer acceptability
  • behaviour, health and welfare
  • feed quality and nutritional value
  • bio-pharmaceuticals derived from animals

Preparing your 1-page paper
This second call for submissions is for extended abstracts in the form of 1-page papers. Successful contributed 1-page papers will be invited to present an oral or poster during the conference. The 1-page papers will be published as an online PDF which will be linked to the special issue online and will be found in the Table of Contents for the issue.

Students are encouraged to submit a 1-page paper for consideration to be involved in the Student Snapshot competition or to present a poster. Please select submission type ‘Student Oral’ or ‘Student Poster’. For more information on student involvement visit www.asap.asn.au/students

It’s important to adhere to the requirements during the preparation of your paper. The more you take note now, the less you have to re-format later!

Please download and use the preparation instructions and 1-page template in developing your submission. The template is a MS Word document which will allow you to enter your content using the existing page set up and formatting provided.

How to submit your abstract
1. Create a login or login
Each submission requires its own unique email address to create a login username and password.
If authors have more than one submission, a different email address must be used for each submission to enable it to be tracked through the ASAP online submission system.
An email confirmation of the account created will be sent to the account holder.

2. Enter your abstract and information
Complete all fields in the form and upload your one page paper as a .doc file (MS Word document) following the template and instructions provided.
Please note that the category you select on the submission form to best describe the content of your paper is used only as a guide by the editorial committee – it is not used to section papers in the special issue.

3. Save / Submit / Logout of abstract submission
Progress made in completing the submission form can be saved. Authors completing the form can log out and log back in at a later time to make further changes before submitting.
Changes can be made up until the deadline of 5:00pm AEDT, Friday, February 9, 2018.
To lodge your submission, you must click the submit button. Please note once you have clicked submit, your submission is final and no changes can be made.
