Each year ASAP sends 2 Australian students to our sister American Society of Animal Science in Illinois to undertake an internship in science communications for 3 months. The ASAS folks do an amazing job of hosting the students, sending them around the USA to visit animal facilities, conferences, universities/colleges, abattoirs, processing plants etc etc. In the ASAS office they are trained in software for generating web-based materials and taught techniques for generating user-friendly messages from various materials provided by our members here in Australia. These messages are produced into an online newsletter which then becomes available for all of the membership of ASAP. The newsletter is called Taking Stock Australia and is published 6 times/annum. To do this great activity WE NEED YOUR HELP! If you can send any scientific papers, new information, field day reports, preliminary results etc etc related to anything ‘animal’, I can forward on to Ashlee and Penny, our 2017 interns who have just arrived the USA.
